SAKS’ Adam Barkworth won the title in the National SAKS Education Awards 2013
SAKS in Princesshay, one of Exeter’s favourite hair and beauty salons, has a brand new star. Adam Barkworth, who has been training with SAKS since September 2012, has won the highly regarded title of Advanced Apprentice of the Year in the National SAKS Education Awards 2013.
Adam achieved this fantastic award through in-depth research into styles and trends, and through drawing inspiration from the environment around him. By collating pictures, colour swatches and examples of make-up, fashions and hair styles, Adam was able to decide on his final look for the competition.
Adam Barkworth said: “I put my heart and soul into this competition and I looked at different ways to give me that extra edge. I contacted Zara in Princesshay to see if they would kindly loan an outfit for my model to complement my look. They were more than happy to support me, which was great.”
He continues, “I am inspired by some of the greats including Vidal Sasson, Andrew Barton and Raymond Bessone. I hope one day I can achieve the same recognition as these great icons.”
Adam’s carefully thought out competition entry was finely executed resulting in him winning joint first place. Adam not only received the title of Advance Apprentice of the Year, but won a full range of SAKS accessories, providing him with all of the equipment he needs as a professional stylist.
Ellie Winkler, Owner of Saks Exeter, said: “We’re so incredibly proud of Adam. He has worked so hard and gone the extra mile to achieve great things. He’s definitely one to watch for the future.”
Continuing to strive for success, Adam was entered into the Creative Head awards, celebrating hairdressing’s brightest young talents, and made it onto the It List for 2013. Adam was one of only five shortlisted in the brand new Rising Star category.
Soon to be fully qualified, Adam Barkworth joins Ellie and her team of expert stylists at the salon in Princesshay full time. To book your appointment with Adam, contact SAKS Exeter by phone: 01392 256999 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
