Everyone should bring their camera to the Devon County Show and capture the fun, the buzz and the action of the show, and this year you can submit your photos to the great Devon Life/Devon County Show Photo Competition.

This year, Devon Lifes presence at the Devon County Show is bigger and better than ever. Our main attraction is a new marquee, which will host a variety of entertainment throughout the three days from 19-21 May, as well as a chance to meet the Editorial Team. We also have our usual stand in the Flower Tent. Listed below are the artists and entertainers who are confirmed for our marquee, some of whom have been featured in our magazine. Teaching Dad
In Teaching Dad to Cook Flapjack, Miranda Gardiner shares recipes she gave her father, collected from family and friends, from Cornwall to Helsinki. Irresistible meals are sure to inspire and delight.


Alex Knight classical guitarist
From the southern slopes of Dartmoor your ears may catch the sweet strings of Alex Knights guitar while he accompanies a wedding or perhaps a dinner party, as he plays classical, Spanish or baroque melodies, with flourishes echoing the Renaissance lute. classical-guitarist.net

Elizabeth-Jane Baldry harpist, composer and film-maker
Elizabeth-Jane Baldrys compositions have been used by ITV, the BBC and by Irish, Japanese, Danish and Canadian film, radio and television.


Kye Tew jewellery designer
Kye incorporates vintage and recycled items into her designs, creating unique and bespoke pieces of jewellery. She breathes new life into old and unworn items, giving them a contemporary twist with materials including silver, turquoise and pearls.


Nina Squire illustrator
Illustrator Nina Squire has a deep affinity with farmyard characters, which often feature in her work. A large part of her commission work includes portraits of spaniels, labradors and horses.


Peter Bently childrens author
His most recent picture book, The Great Dog Bottom Swap (Andersen Press), was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize in 2009 and was Commended at the Sheffield Childrens Book Award in 2010.

Photography Competition

Everyone should bring their camera to the Devon County Show and capture the fun, the buzz and the action of the show, and this year you can submit your photos to the great Devon Life/Devon County Show Photo Competition.

Livestock is one of the attractions of this hugely popular agricultural show, along with local food and drink, inspiring flower and garden displays, tempting stalls and entertainment in six rings including this year the dazzling Bolddog Lings motorcycle display team.

How to Enter the Photo Competition:
There will be two sections of the competition Junior and Senior.
All photos must be taken at the Devon County Show and uploaded onto devon.greatbritishlife.co.uk by 31 May 2011. There will be 5 categories:
Food: Flower & Garden: Animals: Entertainment: Country Life.

Photo Competition Prizes:
A prize for each of the two winners, both junior and adult, of the Devon Life/Devon County Show 2011 Photographic
Competition are:

2012 Devon County Show, 17-19 May: four Show Guest badges plus four lunches in the Members area plus a bottle of champagne.
Two digital cameras (DMC-FP3): one for the junior section and one for the senior section, which has been kindly sponsored by Panasonic Store.
