The Moorland Garden Hotel near Yelverton has announced a number of initiatives to help grow support and raise funds for this year’s selected charity, The Primrose Foundation

A collection tin in the hotel reception will encourage visitors to make donations whilst bookmarks placed in the bedrooms will help to educated guests about the Foundation and its Breast Care Centre at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. The charity will benefit from fundraising at various hotel events throughout the year, including a Sparkles and Spitfires Dinner Dance being held in August to mark the hotel’s eightieth anniversary.

Other plans include a stall selling Primrose Foundation merchandise at the Moorland Garden Hotel’s ‘Planning your Garden’ day in April. Staff are also planning a sponsored cycle and walk to raise funds.

Announcing The Primrose Foundation as this year’s charity, Andrew Jenkins, General Manager from The Moorland Garden Hotel said: “This year we asked the staff which charity they would like to support and The Primrose Foundation was a clear favourite. A member of the team has personally been affected by breast cancer and has been incredibly impressed by the services and care offered at the Primrose Breast Care Centre. We’ll all be digging deep to help make a difference and we hope that we’ll be able to make a significant financial contribution as well as raise awareness of this fantastic local facility.”

Sue Hobbs, Chair of The Primrose Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be the Moorland Garden Hotel’s charity of the year and we look forward to a fantastic 12 months of fundraising and awareness raising events. Thanks to all the staff and guests for their support. It will make a huge difference to the lives of the men and women that the Primrose Breast Care Centre helps each day.”

The Primrose Foundation is a breast care charity, based in Plymouth, raising funds to maintain and improve the existing equipment at the Primrose Breast Care Centre in Derriford Hospital. The catchment area includes much of east Cornwall, much of west and south Devon, as well as the city of Plymouth. The original Primrose Appeal helped to fund the development of the centre as a ‘one-stop clinic’. Over the last 10 years The Primrose Foundation has continued to raise funds in order to enhance the facilities and services provided.
