Choirs from some of Exeters largest organisations are practising hard ahead of a major gala charity evening in the city to mark Her Majesty The Queens Diamond Jubilee on 25 May.

The Jubilee Jubilante event, organised by Exeter Cathedral and Foot Anstey, has an informal choir competition as the centrepiece of an evening of celebration to raise valuable funds for the musical arm of Exeter Cathedrals Third Millennium Campaign, which aims to raise 8 million to support three appeals: music, fabric and the library.

Choirs from Foot Anstey, Strutt & Parker, Michelmores and Exeter University have been fine tuning, under the expert tutelage of David Davis, assistant musical director at the Cathedral, ahead of the big event which will be held at Bishop's Palace in the shadow of the Exeter Cathedral. With the first mentoring sessions now over, they have a final session two days before the competition.

On the night choirs will perform in front of an impressive judging panel which includes local professionalsoprano, Margaret Aagesen-Hughes, the Bishop of Argyll and the Isles,Martin Shaw and Emma Williams of the Military Wives Choir, who has just joined the panel as celebrity guest judge.

Commenting on taking her place amongst the judges, Emma Williams said: It is a real honour to join the judging panel for such a prestigious evening. It has quite made my day!

Foot Anstey Partner Simon Gregory said: Foot Anstey LLP is delighted to be supporting this glittering event to mark Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The evening is shaping up really nicely thanks to support from organisations across the city and we urge others to join in for this very worthy cause.

Tickets for this truly unique opportunity cost 50 per head and will include complimentary arrival drinks, 'Best of British' banquet and entertainment provided by Exeter Cathedral.
