Brixham pirates have battled long and hard for almost a year to make sure Brixham's popular international Pirate event takes place. The organisers of Brixham's World Famous Pirate Festival, all volunteers, give up their time and expertise unpaid to stage the massive Pirate event but still needed to raise substantial funding. With most festivals struggling to raise funds in this difficult economic climate the English Riviera Tourism Company along with generous donations from local businesses have come up trumps.

Carolyn Custerson, Chief Executive Officer of the English Riviera Tourism Company said, 'The people of Brixham have worked hard to create the world-renowned Brixham Pirate Festival. This fantastic and unique event, with its record-breaking collection of pirates, creates huge national interest, driving lots of visitors to the English Riviera.
