Will you join Devon's Flashdance flashmob?

PUBLISHED: 13:48 10 June 2013

Devon Community Foundation is asking anyone who loves to dance, or who simply loves Devon, to get involved in a county-wide flashmob on Sunday June 30 to help raise funds for the charity.

Marking the 30th anniversary of the Hollywood classic movie Flashdance and celebrating BBC Radio Devon’s 30th Birthday, the flashmob will be raising money for BBC Radio Devon’s Give a Gift Appeal in aid of Devon Community Foundation.

Famous ballet dancer and Devonian Wayne Sleep is backing the appeal, suggesting as many groups as possible take part in the flashmob to raise as much as possible for the charity. You could be a dance group, school, crew, project, charity or just someone who simply loves a good boogie.

Remembering that flashmobs are meant to be top secret, all you need to do is get a group of you together at a fun location to take the people of Devon by surprise with your smooth moves.

At a time to be confirmed BBC Radio Devon will play the Flashdance theme tune What A Feeling and ask people throughout Devon to break into their flashmob at the start of the tune. These will include shopping centres, train stations, car parks, supermarkets, schools, businesses, parks, beaches and so on.

Not only that, the simple choreographed routine has already been done for you (although you can always do some freestyling)!

So, if you fancy flashmobbing to raise some funds, please get in touch with Gillian at Devon Community Foundation on 01884 235887 or by email Gillian@devoncf.com.

Devon Community Foundation provide grants to many local community groups and organisations giving over £8.5 million to groups throughout Devon over the last eight years. This is your chance to give something back to your community.
