Gorgeous Animate desk by furniture designers Young and Norgate

At Devon Life we like the finer things in life: this month Interiors Editor

CAROL BURNS has fallen for the work of Devon design duo Young & Norgate, whose motto is simple: all good things come to those who wait

The men behind Animate admit the ethos behind their furniture is firmly rooted in the grand tradition of the best craftsmen.

Dave Young and Ross Norgate’s burgeoning partnership has seem them already gain fans for their bespoke furniture among the most demanding of critics, Devon Life’s Interiors Editor notwithstanding, and their work can be found in Liberty’s of London, and with renowned brands such as Conran, Berry Bros & Rudd, as well as some of the best homes. Based in a converted cider press in Devon, Dave and Ross use artisan methods and tools to create - truly by hand - contemporary furniture and bespoke commissions

In a world of ‘now, now, now’ they say, their ethos of ‘all in good time’ is beginning to win out.

This piece, made of the highly prized Bog Oak, which has formed over 4,000 years of lying in peat bogs, is a great example of that fact. Luckily, it won’t take four millennia to get your hands on a piece of their wonderfully bespoke furniture.
