Kiki Dee & Carmello Luggerri met in the mid 90's when working together on a Greatest Hits compilation for Kiki. Since their musical collaboration began the ongoing musical experiment has resulted in them not only recording together, but touring the UK. Appearing in the region for the first time, they are in concert at the Babbacombe Theatre, Torquay for one night only on Saturday 5th October at 8pm.

Kiki Dee began her singing career with a local Dance Band in the mid 60's and recorded her debut solo record with Fontana Records, she also worked live in cabaret around the UK and appeared on Radio and TV with guest spots such as the Morecambe and Wise Show. By the end of the decade she was recording with the Tamla Motown label in Detroit. Kiki remembers the first telephone call she received from them, ''At first I thought it was someone having a joke, but I did end up spending three months in America and I am still proud of the work I did out there''.

Although turning professional as a teenager success on a larger scale came for Kiki when she signed to Elton Johns label, Rocket Records she went on to have hits with songs like, Amoureuse and I've Got The Music In Me and in 1976 Don't Go Breaking My Heart the duet she recorded with the man himself, made her a household name.

Apart from her solo career Kiki has worked for long periods of time on the West End, toured in a show called Pump Boys and Dinettes and went on to receive a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for her performance in Willie Russell's, Blood Brothers.

For the last ten years Kiki has been collaborating with guitarist, writer and producer Carmelo on their own music. Kiki loves the freedom and creativity of this phase of her musical career, she says, having a recording studio at my disposal and communicating with live audiences in an intimate setting is a great challenge and very rewarding''.

The duo signed a deal with EMI, and for the first time since the 1970s, Kiki's albums recorded on Elton John's label have been re-mastered and released on CD.

The 3 albums that Kiki and Carmelo have recorded together, also with EMI highlight their special collaboration and adventurous musical direction. Its great to walk into a record shop or go on line and see all our music readily available" says Kiki, and with the help of EMI both Kiki & Carmello are raising their profile with more regular TV and radio appearances.

In 2009 they toured for the first time as a duo across the UK. Live concerts are very important to them and in their unique acoustic guitar based show they bring together their original music with some of Kiki's known songs such as 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' and 'I've Got The Music In Me' as well as covers of songs by various artistes including, Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel to name just two...this combination encourages an intimate and spontaneous evening for the audience.
