Paignton Zoo is concentrating on plants instead of animals with a summer garden evening. The Evening Garden Tour is on Wednesday 6th July.

Keen local gardeners will be able to join a guided tour of the Zoos gardens, see rare and unusual plants from the Zoos collection of more than 2,500 species and meet the gardens team. The tour is followed by a cheese and wine reception, a presentation by Curator of Plants and Gardens Kevin Frediani and a question and answer session with garden experts.

Kevin: Visitors will meet a gardener at the Zoo entrance for a brief introduction before starting their walk around the Zoo. Theyll take in Reptile Tropics, the lake area, our revolutionary hydroponics installation and Crocodile Swamp. Theyll see how the landscape of the Zoo mimics the natural habitats of the animals. There will be time to chat about the habitat themes and any plants that catch their eye. Its a great opportunity to see the Zoo as a botanical garden instead of a zoological one!

Spaces are limited to 40 people on the evening, which will run from 7pm to about 9pm. Tickets are 12.00 to book, telephone 0844 474 2222. Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is a registered charity. For more information go to http://www.paigntonzoo.org.uk/ or ring 0844 474 2222.
