Could you abseil England’s highest waterfall?
If you’re looking for an exciting and exhilarating way to spend a weekend then look no further! You could be joining a team of fellow adrenaline seekers as they abseil down the 220Ft Waterfall at Canonteign Falls in Dartmoor, near Exeter and help to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
This is one of Children’s Hospice South West’s most popular events and although it is seen as an extreme challenge, you can rest assured that there is full instruction from a trained provider and you and your friends could take a part for just £33 entry fee each. There’s no minimum amount to fundraise – all we ask is that you raise as much as you can to help support local children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, whilst promoting awareness of our charity at the same time.
Marina Leadbetter, Events Fundraiser for CHSW says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to face their fears and ‘go over the edge’ for a great cause. The event is unique because it gives thrill-seekers the chance to abseil down the highest waterfall in England, an experience that is hard to beat.”
The event is organized in conjunction with Dave Talbot who has been working in the outdoor industry for 13 years and holds the highest level of qualification in the UK for Abseiling. Dave and his instructors, plus the CHSW team, will ensure everyone is kitted up in wetsuits, harnesses and helmets and psyched up to take on the challenge.
There is support every step of the way and plenty of time to practice abseiling and enjoy the wonderful grounds in which the event is staged.
Situated within Dartmoor National Park in the heart of Devon’s Teign Valley, Canonteign Falls descend a staggering 70m, making this one of the most breathtaking attractions in Devon and providing a wonderful day out for all the family – and the perfect setting for an adrenalin rush!
The CHSW Abseil is on the weekend on the 1st/2nd August 2015. Registration is now open and as places are limited, early registration is recommended. Due to the nature of the event, participants must be aged 10 and over. Abseil is not physically challenging but you do need to be able to coordinate your movements and walk to the take off point which is about half a mile uphill.
To register, please visit www.chsw.org.uk/abseil, or call Marina at CHSW on 01271 325270.
