Along with Sebastian (now Lord) Coe and Steve Ovett, the Jarrow Arrow was one of the world's dominant middle distance runners during the 1980s setting world records in the 1500 metres, 2000 metres and the mile during a 19-day period in the summer of 1985 and winning World Gold and Olympic Silver medals.

Now a respected broadcaster, journalist and motivational speaker, Steve Cram will represent Clydesdale Bank at a variety of sporting and business events in the coming years.

On his appointment as a Clydesdale Ambassador in April, he said: "With the Commonwealth and Olympic Games coming to these shores in the near future, track and field will take the nation by storm and I look forward to helping the bank support and develop the stars of tomorrow."
