On 28th May 2010 the 65 Roses Summer Ball was held at Sandy Park in Exeter in aid of the East Devon Quality of life Fund for Cystic Fibrosis.

The Quality of Life Fundwas been set up by a group of parents, all of whom have children with the life threatening disease Cystic Fibrosis. The Fund has been created to help people with Cystic Fibrosis who live in the East Devon area to enhance their quality of life. This could be by helping with the cost towards a piece of medical equipment or treatment that is not available through the hospital or CF Trust. So farthe charity has provided resources and equipment to several people with CF andlots ofE-Flow Rapid nebulisers. Sarah Price and Sandra Kirley organised a Charity Ballon 28th May 2010 where monies raised from the event will go to The Quality of Life Fund and they will then donate 50% of the amount the the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (http://www.cftrust.org.uk/). The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common, life-threatening, inherited diseases.

Guests were greeted on arrivalat Sandy Park, home to the Exeter Cheifs, by Heart FMs Heart Angels and local photographer Paul Claydon and offered them the opportunity to have a photograph taken next to a wonderful Black Ferrari, which was very kindly loaned to us by Brooklands of Exeter. Whilst listening to the Dave Parsons Jazz duo, guests were then treated to pre-dinner drinks and canaps.

Over 70 guests attended the evening and were given the chance to bid for fantastic items in a live auction hosted by Tim Ames, professional entertainer and compere. We were very lucky to have many wonderful items donated for the evening by local businesses and friends linked to the charity said Sarah Price, joint organiser of the event. The evening raised over 2100, which was greatly received by the charity and will directly help people with Cystic Fibrosis who live in the East Devon area to enhance their quality of life.

Local Exmouth Band, The Embezzlers treated us all to live music for the remainder of the evening.

The evening was full of entertainment and raised lots of money forthe local charity. Many of the guests commented on how little they knew about the disease that affects a huge amount of people and said what a wonderful evening theyd had.

We would like to thank everyone who has offered their help to make this event happen and raise a wonderful amount of money when times are hard, and we are looking forward to organising the next event! Sarah Price and Sandra Kirley.
