Devon Life had a great time at the Devon County Show at Westpoint this weekend. The sun and the crowds were out in force with lots for everyone to see and do.
There was a great atmosphere at the Show this year and I met up with some of the people at one of the Show's 2010 'firsts'. Exmouth exhibited as a town - the first time any town has done this - with great success.
Businesses and community groups exhibited alongside each other to show off what Exmouth has to offer to locals and visitors alike. They even bought the beach with them! From the World of Country Life to Exmouth Mussels, diversity was the order of the day.
Town Mayor Darryl Nicholas says "Exmouth is a great example of community working closely alongside local businesses to regenerate the town. Urban spaces such as The Strand will be transformed by summer 2011 with pedestrianisation and the towns first open air performance stage for showcasing Exmouths performers."
Throughout the show, people watched performances by the Exmouth Shanty Men, Exmouth Players from Blackmore Theatre, the ladies' barbershop chorus Renaissance and Exmouth's samba band Street Heat.
All the Exmouth locals I met had a real passion for their town and the Exe estuary. From kitesurfing and rib rides for adrenalin junkies to the more serene culture the town has to offer, there's something for everyone.
