Former Dogs Trust Ilfracombe resident put through his paces in BBC 2 Sport Relief challenge

Former Dogs Trust Ilfracombe resident Bailey is putting his best paw forward and hoping to wag his way to glory in BBC2’s Sport Relief’s Top Dog.

The four year old Border Collie was picked to appear on the show, which features dogs competing in a series of challenges, after owner Dan Ewing filled out an application form earlier this year. He was then asked to send in videos of Bailey’s agility prowess and soon got the call telling him Bailey would be one of the stars of the show. Dan and his girlfriend Gemma, who is a Canine Carer at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe were thrilled and couldn’t wait for Bailey to take part.

Bailey’s owner, Dan Ewing says;

“Bailey has always been good at agility so when we found out about the show, we knew he would be a perfect fit. It was so exciting to be picked and he was such a trooper, he had so much fun with all of the challenges. It was a fantastic experience to be part of and a really great way for us to do our bit for Sport Relief. ”

Claire Joselin, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe comments;

“It was so exciting to have a former Dogs Trust resident wag his way onto the show. Bailey is a talented boy so it was lovely to see him get to showcase some of his talents on national TV. We’re so proud of his achievements and can’t wait to see if he scoops the top prize! ”

The programme, which airs this week, consists of twelve knockout rounds in which two teams will compete for the chance to make it through to the semi-finals. The grand final then awaits as dogs of all shapes and sizes will compete for the chance to be crowned ‘Top Dog’.
