The South Molton Apple Fair returns on Sunday 1st November from 10.30am to 3pm with lots to see and do for all the family.

Orchards Live, a charity based in North Devon, hope to make the event even bigger and better than the year before with the focus firmly on fruit and fun.

Located in the historic Pannier Market there will be live music from successful local singer/songwriter Sam Dowden, performances from the Border Morris Dancers, and over 50 market stalls - most selling apples, juices, ciders and orchard related ware. For the children they are welcome to visit and pet the donkeys, make ‘apple pigs’, go apple bobbing, face painting and other games.

The focal point remains Orchards Lives’ extensive range of Devon apples which you can browse and taste, and where experts and volunteers will be on hand to help identify apples brought in (please bring in 2- 3 apples plus a leaf from the same tree). Have a surplus of apples from your back garden? A team of Orchards Live volunteers will be on hand to help you press them into juice. Bring your bags of apples ready washed and bring plastic bottles with tops for you to take the juice home in.

Tattwa Gyani, Chair of Orchards Live, says, “it’s been a great harvest for many people this year so we are expecting record numbers wanting to turn their own apples into juice.”

A raffle for 2 magnificent hampers will be raising funds for local charities.

The produce show is open to everyone, bake an apple cake or enter a pot of jam and see if you win! The Golden Apple is the trophy to be awarded to the person with the most points.

From apples and orchards to basketry and bees, from cider and scones to pears and plums, come and have a great day out.
