Two students from Exeter College’s Art & Design and Media faculties have been working hard with a range of Devon tourism organisations to create a ‘mascot’ dance video.

Haydon Beagley, 20, is studying on the university level FdA Film and Television Production course and Felix Northover, 17, is studying on the UAL Extended Diploma in Art and Design, specialising in Photography. The Students have enjoyed the opportunity to work on this assignment which has included working with a wide range of professional organisations including Devon’s Top Attractions, Exeter Chiefs, Devon holiday parks and local charities. The project required them to travel around the county, filming at multiple locations – shooting live performance footage at the Devon County Show and at several top visitor attractions around Devon.

Simon Fishwick, Chairman of Devon’s Top Attractions, said “The Exeter College Students have produced an excellent film which really gets across the main message about ‘working together for Devon’ and supporting local charities.”

With over 25 mascots to film and in multiple locations this was not an easy task. Final footage shows the students’ professional expertise, rhythm and skilled editing that was needed to deliver such a difficult project.

Katie Wild, Head of the faculty of Media and Performing Arts at Exeter College said, “We are always keen for the students to gain work experience in real commissions with an active brief and working directly for a client. This has been a fantastic opportunity for them to work with different clients and at different locations on a fun and diverse project.

We hope that the film will be a real asset to the local tourism industry and the charities, particularly with the Rugby World Cup putting Devon on the map and attracting new visitors from around the globe - we’re proud that Exeter College students can use their skills to contribute to the local economy.”
