Get into the Christmas spirit with a visit to one of Devon’s best events this festive season.

Whether you’re looking for special gifts or just want a festive family day out, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at the Christmas markets in Devon. Supporting and showcasing handcrafted and unique gifts from the south west’s local traders, the Christmas markets are the perfect place to start your countdown to Christmas!

1. Plymouth Loves Christmas, Plymouth

Plymouth really does LOVE Christmas. After deciding that previous organisers did not do enough to support the local traders or produce, the city has taken maters into its own hands. Running from Thursday 26 November to Sunday 6 December the city centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland offering vintage Christmas gifts, locally sourced festive foods and the NEW Christmas Market.

2. Hannah’s Christmas Craft Fayre, Newton Abbot

Join the festivities down at Hannah’s Christmas Craft Fayre. Enjoy discovering the 12 doors of Christmas, or pay a visit to Santa himself. With lots of fundraising activities being held on both days, the Fayre is bursting with community spirit. It’s being held on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November.

3. Magdalen Road Christmas Fair, Exeter

Come to the award-winning urban village and enjoy browsing the selection of fine food, drinks and gifts. In addition to the many shops and stalls filling the street, the event will hold its very own fairground with entertainment from the local community. Highlights include St Leonards primary school, local singer Annabel Davis as well as Exeter’s very own university acapella group, Semitoned. The Fair is on Saturday 5 December, 2pm – 6pm. Entry is free.

4. Exeter Christmas Market, Cathedral Green

This winter Exeter city centre will burst to life for the Christmas Market on Cathedral Green. There will be a huge range of great food and a mix of more than 50 local and international traders offering quirky, handmade gifts, making the market an ideal way to spend a cold winter evening. Warm yourself up with the traditional hog roast, Belgian chocolates and a hot Gluehwein by the beautiful Exeter City Cathedral. Visit between 19 November and 19 December.

5. Westpoint Shopping Centre, Exeter

Just outside the city centre, this indoor event is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Westpoint will host an incredible diverse range for all ages, as the shopping centre is transformed from your well-known shopping centre into a magical winter wonderland, where you can browse for all your Christmas essentials. The event runs from Friday 27 November until Sunday 29 November, from 9.30am to 5.30pm. £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for over-65s, free for ages 16 and under.
