Dartmouth Food Festival - October 22nd to 24th in its seventh year just grows and grows in popularity and this year we are happy to boast that the following world class chefs will be joining us for cookery demonstrations and discussions including Mitch Tonks, Fergus Henderson, Michael Caines, Matt Tebbutt, Mark Hix, Valentine Warner, Henry Dimbleby, Tim Bouget, Nathan Thomas and Jane Baxter amongst othersphew! And more yet to confirm!!
This years Dartmouth Food Festival will get off to a star-studded start when a trio of world class chefs open proceedings on Thursday 21st October. Local favourite Mitch Tonks, who runs Dartmouths popular Seahorse Restaurant and newly opened Rockfish Dartmouth, will team up with Riverfords Jane Baxter and the much admired Fergus Henderson of Londons world renowned St John Restaurant who deservedly has a Michelin star. The festival will have marquees on the Embankment overlooking the River Dart specialising in seafood together with over 100 different food stalls in the Old Market Square.
David Jones, chairman of the Food Festival is delighted that such celebrated chefs are coming together to headline the Dartmouth event. Each of them has their own style and passions he explained; Mitch is tremendously enthusiastic about our local fisheries and uses the best local catch to produce simple dishes which show off the quality of the fish. Jane is a great ambassador for food in the Southwest from Riverford Farm and Fergus Henderson is revered by chefs and critics as a master of simple, honest eating without pretensions and beyond reproach. Together they represent everything thats great about British cooking and we are honoured to welcome them all to the Festival. Food is for everyone, not just a few, and its important to us that all can enjoy and support the event. Thats why Im delighted to see so many different elements of the town getting involved and taking advantage of it.
These events on the opening day of the Festival are a warm up to a great line up of free demonstrations which will take place in two cooking theatres on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 22nd, 23rd and 24th October. Chefs from in and around Dartmouth will share their skills, passion and knowledge throughout the event
