Four-star Kitley House Hotel, near Yealmpton, was recently awarded an AA Rosette for its food and service and has just launched a new dining menu, following the appointment of head chef Ben Davies

Set in 600 acres of unspoilt pasture and woodland on a family-run estate on the banks of the Yealm estuary, Kitley House is a 500-year-old gem of a building.

The 19-bedroom, Grade One-listed hotel has recently undergone sensitive restoration and refurbishment, making it the perfect place for a relaxing gourmet break.

To celebrate all these recent changes, Kitley is offering one lucky Devon Life reader the chance to win a two-night stay in April to coincide with one of its seasonal Fine Dining and Wine Tasting evenings.

The dinner will be held in the elegant surroundings of the Regency Room, with wonderful views across the gardens to rolling countryside beyond. The winner and their guest will be treated to a five-course dinner, prepared by Ben Davies. Wine connoisseur Pip Vanham will choose wines to match each dish and share her knowledge about how to pair wines to complement different foods.

Kitley’s menu always features high quality, locally-sourced ingredients, including pork and poultry reared on the Kitley Estate. Other meat is sourced from South Devon butcher Gribble’s, while fish is bought fresh from local markets and vegetables are grown in neighbouring fields.

After indulging in an evening of great food and wine, the winners will head up Kitley’s grand staircase to their large State Room with fine views. In the morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the Library before exploring the grounds and the local area.
