A new business group has been set up for those in the marketing and public relations industry.

Attention Media held its inaugural PR and Marketing Professionals’ Network event at Pukka Indian in Exeter recently, which welcomed professionals from the city to chat and socialise.

Editor of the Express and Echo Paul Burton gave an informal chat about the paper and the advances being made to encourage interaction between print and online news avenues, and Caroline Burkie, PR and Fundraising manager for WESC Foundation — Attention Media’s charity of the year — spoke about the positive influence of PR and media for the charity.

“At our events, it’s about establishing an informal, no-pressure environment where marketing professionals can talk about interests and insights into the things that directly and indirectly affect what and how we market businesses,” says Sarah Davey, Attention Media’s director.

“We are looking to hold regular events where we will invite a selection of guests to impart their knowledge about a particular subject, but the key focus is for the group to interact and share, and we were really pleased to have such great feedback from our first event.”

At the next event, invited speakers will include an expert in online marketing, who will be talking about optimising your online profile, the power of video and engaging new audiences for your clients.
