North Devon environmental entrepreneur Mukti Mitchell has been shortlisted for the Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) Awards.
During his 15 years of pioneering he has enabled more people to make sustainable energy choices.
Having established a yacht building company and innovated a drop keel design ocean going zero-carbon micro yacht, Mukti toured Britain in this prototype explorer to promote low carbon living, which received high profile media attention and was endorsed by HRH Prince of Wales, Tony Blair and David Cameron.
He also devised an award winning carbon calculator, written a book on low carbon lifestyles, and set up CosyHome Company in 2010 as a carbon reduction company through which Mukti has retrofitted nearly 100 ‘hard-to-treat’ properties with predicted carbon saving of over 500 tonnes CO2e.
The Environmental Entrepeneur shortlisting is deserved of someone whose focus is fixed on the cause of sustainability and specifically trying to limit climate change through reducing their own and as many other people’s carbon foot prints as much as he possibly can.
The 2013 DEBI Awards ceremony will be held at the Met Office on Thursday, 21 November. Visit debi-online.org.uk for further information.
