Mayflower Marina named as UK Coastal Marina of the Year

Plymouth’s Mayflower Marina has been named as ‘UK Coastal Marina of the Year’ at the London Boat Show. It is the second consecutive year that the independent Marina, owned and operated by Sailport PLC has taken the top prize, to the delight of Mayflower’s Managing Director, Charles Bush.
Mr Bush said: “I am really thrilled to accept this prestigious award on behalf of everyone at Mayflower Marina. It is a particularly special achievement because the outcome is determined by customer nomination and in our business there can be no greater accolade.”
The awards, organised by The Yacht Harbour Association are open to all Gold Anchor accredited marinas both in the UK and overseas.
Mayflower Marina has held the TYHA’s coveted 5 Gold Anchor award since 2012 in recognition of the high standards of its facilities and customer service. Jon White, General Manager of The Yacht Harbour Association, said: “I congratulate the team at Mayflower Marina for being voted by their customers UK Coastal Marina of the Year (2015) for the second year in succession. The new online voting system, introduced this year, has led to a significant increase in the number of votes and marinas nominated and therefore increased competition which makes Mayflower’s achievement even more impressive, the team at Mayflower clearly know how to look after their customers!”
The 400-berth Marina overlooking the Royal William Yard has built up quite a reputation with the sailing community. It’s a popular stopover for crews heading off across the Atlantic in the ARC Rally. It also hosts The Westerley Owners’ Association National Cruise and the Old Gaffers Rally. The onshore facilities also impressed voters including the award-winning Jolly Jacks bar and restaurant.
