MORE than 200 diverse stallholders ranging from artisan crafts to retro clothing are expected at the sixth Ruby Country Market which takes place on Saturday July 6.

The market was the idea of friends Sharon Mason and Nikki Bradshaw who decided in Easter 2012 to try running a Saturday market at Hatherleigh. It proved a huge success and has gone from strength to strength, drawing thousands of visitors to the town over the past 18 months.

As well as all the outdoor stalls there will be a food hall offering a big range of tempting treats and the event will feature live music including squeezebox players, bell ringers and footstomping Irish country sounds.

The market has become such a success that the local council has congratulated the organisers for bringing so many people into the town, to the benefit of other traders.

The July 6 market runs from 9am to 2pm, so it’s worth getting there early. After this month there won’t be another until December. You’ll probably meet the market’s mascot, Horace the rescued goat,
