A family-run Exeter window business has become the first in the south west to offer a passive house design service.
Aspect Windows director of sales and special projects Andrew Seller has passed an exam making him a certified Passivhaus Design consultant, making the firm the only full solutions, window company offering a consultant certified in passive house design in Devon.
‘Passive house’ refers to the rigorous, voluntary, Passivhaus standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling. Passive design is a design process that is integrated with architectural design.
The course undertaken by Andrew is written and taught by leaders in UK Passivhaus development and, after sitting the exam in Plymouth, Andrew was delighted to receive the news that he had passed the exam.
He said: “I can’t wait to get started. We pride ourselves at Aspect Windows in offering our customers and their architects knowledge and expertise and now we can also design a window solution for their own energy-efficient passive house in the most competitive way.”
Aspect Windows managing director Steve Cooling said: “We are extremely proud of Andrew’s achievement and are thrilled that Aspect Windows can now offer the full Passivhaus design service. This is the start of a new chapter for the company, we’re already committed to new technologies in glazing and this, combined with our personal approach to business, makes us a unique glazing firm in the South West.”
Aspect Windows is currently in the process of refurbishing its large showroom, located at Apple Lane, Exeter, adding more products, allowing architects, consultants and homeowners the opportunity to view a wide range of doors, bi-folding doors, windows and conservatories, as well as curtain walling.
