It has often been observed that something funny happens when a girl gets engaged. It’s like some kind of unseen power that takes over and changes her personality ever so slightly for the months leading up to her wedding.
I’m getting married next year and for me this change manifested itself recently in the shape of a strawberry. I was at a friend’s house for dinner with my fiancé and our hosts were politely enquiring about our wedding plans. I mentioned how I had my heart set on serving the reception champagne with strawberries when our hostess suggested that raspberries might be a lovely alternative. My rather forceful reply expressing my opinion to the contrary has since earned me the nickname ‘bridezilla’.But I’m not ashamed. I have in my mind a picture of my wedding day and I’m not prepared to compromise.
