You can keep your Oscars, overblown, gushing, over-sentimental ceremony that it is! Get real. Get local. Get hooked into what has turned out to be one of the most important occasions for Devon’s Food and Drink industry over the past few years: the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards, held in association with Knight Frank. They are rightly regarded by many in the industry as one of the most important awards to be won by any business involved in providing food and drink in the county, because nominations are made directly by customers themselves. They say there is no better recommendation for a business than loyal clientele and word of mouth, but there is, and the annual Devon Life Food and Drinks Award is it, helping spread the word about outstanding local businesses all over the county. The Awards are supported and sponsored by a whole host of the biggest names in business in Devon who recognise the worth of the food and drink industry in Devon. And why wouldn’t they? Devon is the South-west’s larder, and if you’re looking for top-class restaurants you can’t cast a stone without knocking some industrious chef’s eye out! We’ve heard it said that Devon has better than London quality restaurants at much less than London prices. Do we believe that? You bet we do!

Over the 5 years since we have been putting on these awards (which were launched at Devon County Show), the ceremony has turned into something of a glitzy occasion with suppliers and providers enjoying a top-class meal where everything is as local as you can get, before really letting their hair down as the nominations are read out and the winners announced. Competition is so keen on the night that if you could bottle the atmosphere and sell it, Devon would have a new product to market. And it’s an occasion everyone can share in, too, since tickets are now available on a limited basis for anyone who wants to help celebrate what Devon means to good wining and dining. If you want to be in there to the hilt to support your nominated business, get in early and reserve your ticket now.
Even if you can’t be there, you can always help to make sure that your favourite food and drink business is. Just log onto the appropriate section of this website and register your nomination. There are fifteen separate categories that you can vote for and you can register a vote in each individual category if you so wish. The more the merrier. And one thing we can guarantee is that there will certainly be a lot of merriment on the night!
