Join the British Sailing Team at Dartmouth Royal Regatta this weekend to celebrate their Olympic success

Keen watchers of the Olympics have the opportunity to meet this year’s successful British Sailing Team. Fresh from Rio, the team, who are the proud owners of three gold medals and one silver, are heading to Dartmouth Royal Regatta to celebrate their success with visitors.

The first recorded competitive regatta dates back to 1822 and is considered one of the largest public events in the South West. With the town expecting up to 100,000 spectators, the team won’t be short of people to share their victory with.

The Regatta will officially welcome the team home on Saturday 27 August. At 11am, by the entrance to the main Dartmouth Regatta marquee, the public will have the chance to meet and greet the team, see the medals and have their photographs taken with their favourite athletes. Local sailors are able to attend an exclusive event at the Dartmouth Yacht Club, hosted by BBC commentator and double Olympic gold medallist, Shirley Robertson. The team will make a final appearance at 4pm on the main stage where many can learn more about their Olympic experiences and receive autographs from the talented group.

Local sailors and youngsters interested in the exclusive meet and greet should contact Adriana Wright in advance to ensure a place: adriana.wright@rya.org.uk
