LOCAL mother-of-two Becky Spencer has unveiled her new look business, which allows people to research, review and rate horse riding options around the UK.

Becky, who lives in Barnstaple, runs the national website ukhorseriderguide.com: the UKs free directory of over 3000 riding schools, livery yards, disabled riding centres, riding holidays, western riding schools and equestrian colleges.

The website, which has been running for just over two years, has recently been redesigned and Becky hopes that more people than ever will be using it.

Becky said: I wanted to create a website aimed at helping horse riders make an informed choice on where to ride and keep their horse.

UK Horse Rider Guide allows users to review their experience by rating and leaving feedback they can also research other horse riding venues throughout the country.

Weve now got over 3000 yards on the site and get around 30,000 hits a month its very exciting and I am pleased that the service is helping riders around the UK.

Becky, who has been riding for nearly 30 years, dreamt up the idea of UK Horse Rider Guide following her travels around the world:

I used many travel review websites which gave me the idea of UK Horse Rider Guide.

Horse riding in the UK is a growing trend: 43% of households (11 million) have a household member with some form of interest in equestrianism.

As the horse riding industry in the UK is valued at around 4billion per year, I believe that people should be able to review and rate their experiences and make informed decisions, just as they can within the travel industry.

Ukhorseriderguide.com also lists and offers reviews on riding holidays, so North Devon residents can use the site to plan their trips away.

As a mother of two young children, Becky understands how anxious parents can be about allowing their children to go riding: It is important to find a good riding school with experienced, friendly staff and safe horses.

My website offers people the chance to find out more about riding venues, but I would always encourage people to visit first to make sure you are happy with it: a good riding venue should welcome you.

Becky, who grew up around horses in Surrey moved to North Devon in 2007.

Ive always loved the area and wanted to move here running the business is a real challenge, but its a dream Ive had for a while and its worth the hard work.

I would encourage people to take a look at the website, either to find out about riding options, or to write a review.

Or, if you own a local equestrian business, you may wish to consider advertising on the site to reach a national audience.
