A film about Agatha Christie commissioned by English Riviera Tourism Company and produced by Torquay film company, Blanchard Media has been shortlisted for a Royal Television Society award.

Agatha Christies Riviera was commissioned by the English Riviera Tourism Company to promote Agathas Torquay roots and Greenway to German tourists at a major travel trade show in Berlin last year.

It was produced by Blanchard Media who have made a number of films for the tourism company in the past couple of years.

Our brief was to promote the Bay as a destination as well as the Agatha connection, said Jane Blanchard who directed and produced the film. The only voice you hear is Agatha talking about hearing Greenway was for sale and her delight in discovering the price was 6,000.

We sourced some amazing footage of Torquay in the 1930s and included photographs of Agatha through her life.

We loved filming at Greenway. Its such a magical place. As a pianist myself, I couldnt resist playing her beautiful Steinway . You can catch a glimpse of my fingers on the keys in the film.

The film has reached the last three in the corporate category for the south west region. The results will be announced at an awards ceremony on January 27.

Jane won a Royal Television Society award in 2008 for her long career at ITV where she worked as a programme maker and commissioning executive. She left the broadcaster in 2009 to launch her own company Blanchard Media, working with a range of clients including Brittany Ferries, Gidleigh Park and Devon County Show.
