Devon’s Harry Potter experts are being summoned to enter the Harry Potter Trivia Tournament

Calling all Harry Potter fans: it’s time to prove your credentials as a Potterhead.

In celebration of the twentieth anniversary of The Philosopher’s Stone, Crediton Community Bookshop (CCB) is one of only 20 bookshops in the country selected to host an official Harry Potter trivia tournament.

Ten teams will have to chance to duel (bowing optional) for the crown of Supreme Harry Potter Champions of CCB, as well as copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition and a set of hardback House editions for each team member.

The winning team of Harry Potter experts will then be invited to London in October to compete in a second trivia tournament against the other 19 winning teams from around the country.

This event is likely to be very popular, so places will be limited. The first stage of the trivia tournament will take place at 3pm in the Crediton Community Bookshop on Saturday 22 July.

Teams must be of four people, including at least one adult. In order to register your team, please e-mail shop@creditoncommunitybookshop.co.uk with your team name and contact details by 5pm on Friday 14 July.

Which teams get to take part will be determined by random selection (names out of a wizard’s hat, of course) and the successful teams contacted by Saturday 15 July.

Throw on your party robes and come along to celebrate The Boy Who Lived. You’d better make sure you know your griffin from your grindylow and your bezoar from your wormwood – competition will be fierce.

Winners must be available to travel to London during or around Children’s Book Week in October. Teams who make it through to the final round will have travel expenses covered, but not accommodation.
