Paintings by Jo Pryor
Jo Pryor lives and works in Great Torrington. Taking friendship as her theme she paints bold buxom women. Her work is a celebration of colour, pattern, texture and shape, inspired by swatches of fabric, costumed dolls, little silk boxes, embroidered hats and jeweled purses. Combining coolie hats and flowing kimonos with ruffles, bows and boots, her paintings remain an unsubtle mixture of style and costume that belongs to no one place or time.
Textiles by Janice Myers
I use a selection of unconventional materials as well as plastic items that others discard or disregard to make my pieces.
Stitching is worked with wire or strips of polythene and I use a computerised sewing machine for other detail.
In design, I like to combine an element of abstract along with the recognisable, so that a hint of story behind the piece is there to see.
