Another success for International Dance Teacher Conference at The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden

The 4th International Dance Teacher Conference held on 2-7 August 2014 was an outstanding success and welcomed dance teachers from as far afield as Hong Kong, New Zealand and the United States of America, as well as many from the UK and Europe.

Organised by International Dance Supplies and CEO Anne Walker MBE, the glittering conference began with a Gala Performance featuring award winning acts such as Tap Attack, Mandy Montanez and Boadicea, as well as a beautiful Ballet pas de deux from the Ballet Theatre UK and a newly choreographed number from Channel 4 Stars, who have now reformed under the new title, Big Ballet UK.

Endorsed by the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET), teachers attending all sessions at the conference are able to obtain 10 hours of valuable Continued Professional Development (CPD), and with a wealth of classes to choose from, this was easily obtainable.

The following two days were packed with over 30 dance sessions taught by world class faculty, including Wayne Sleep OBE; Hope Keelan, and Jo Scanlan, World Title winning tap choreographer, as well as stars of the West End.

An opportunity unique to the conference gave everyone the chance to watch Dame Monica Mason teach Odette’s solo from Act 2 of “Swan Lake” to British dancer, Claire Calvert, a Soloist with The Royal Ballet Company. Dame Monica then taught the same piece to the delegates.
