If you are still deciding where to hold your Devon wedding, here are four venues to consider for your ceremony.

Tie the knot at Exeter GuildhallTie the knot at Exeter Guildhall

City Weddings | Exeter Guildhall

For a unique venue steeped in history then look no further than Exeter Guildhall. The Guildhall has served as the centrepiece of Exeter’s busy civic life for more than 800 years and has now opened its large oak doors for weddings and civil partnerships.

Why not get married in the Great Hall while portraits of various historic figures look over you while you say “I Do”? With high stained glass windows, dark wooden panels and a fine brass chandelier, what more could you ask for a medieval venue? If you are looking for a more intimate ceremony why not walk down the ‘aisle’ in our Jury Room, whose walls are lined with 17th-century panelling taken from St Catharine’s Priory. So, why not add your special day to the record books and become part of the Guildhall’s history?

Lakeside Weddings | South West Lakes Trust

Lakeside at Roadford Lake, in glorious West Devon is South West Lakes Trusts premier venue with fantastic reception rooms and terrace overlooking the stunning 740-acre lake.

Set within magnificent countryside, this tranquil lake is the ideal backdrop for your memorable photos. The stunning venue is licensed for civil ceremonies so you can have your entire wedding all under one roof and with every couple having their own individual preferences, the stylish but modern rooms can be dressed to suit your own personal taste.

To arrive in style, why not come by boat across the lake? You can then walk up the red carpet to your reception making the grand entrance you deserve!

Lakeside offers a variety of catering options to suit all tastes and budgets. Choose from a range of menus for your wedding breakfast and evening buffets which are freshly prepared on site using local ingredients and homemade produce where possible.

Lakeside is the ideal venue for weddings combining a stunning setting, friendly staff, ease of access, excellent facilities, ample parking and the flexibility to meet your every need. The venue is completely flexible; taking care of all your catering needs and can refer you to a professional wedding planner should you wish.

Hotel Weddings | Dartmoor

Warm Welcome Hotels offers two beautiful locations in which to hold your special day in Devon - The Two Bridges Hotel (Dartmoor) and The Bedford Hotel (Tavistock).

The Bedford Hotel is a stunning wedding venueThe Bedford Hotel is a stunning wedding venue

The Two Bridges Hotel is situated on the edge of the River Dart with 60 acres of grounds and a riverside frontage. It has justifiably earned the reputation of being the most beautiful on Dartmoor. Antiques, the gentle ticking of clocks, the glow of copper and brass in the firelight and the relaxing ambience all add up to create a haven of peace and tranquillity. The Bedford Hotel is housed in a beautiful building built on the remains of a Benedictine Abbey in the centre of Tavistock.

A pagoda sits on the edge of the river perfect for outdoor romantic ceremonies, of up to 150 people. The Fountain Room, which seats up to 150 guests, has its own character and charm. Relax while you eat your wedding breakfast with Dartmoor as your backdrop and the calming sound of the fountain trickling as the accompaniment for your first meal as husband and wife.

Both hotels have a wedding team dedicated to making sure your day is just how you want it, and prides itself on flexibility combined with experience. The hotels offer exceptional locally inspired menus put together by executive chef Mike Palmer, who has created new menus for 2014’s brides. A hog roast is now available instead of the traditional for the evening at both hotels, or why not design your own wedding breakfast menu and meet the chef himself, at no extra cost.

Each offers attractive bedrooms (some historic and four poster rooms with spa baths), candlelit award-winning restaurants, comfy lounges and cosy bars serving our own home-brewed real ale from our brewery in Princetown. From the moment you step through the doors of either hotel you are assured of a relaxing, romantic venue for your exceptional day.
