Wayne Sleep launches new book catalogue

International Dance Supplies launched its 2010-11 Diamond Book Catalogue with dance celebrity and local hero Wayne Sleep to a fanfare of applause.

Wayne Sleep joined over 150 guests and staffat IDSfor a tribute tothe dance icon Michael Jackson as part of the new catalogue launch. With a new range of his most famous costumes in this years catalogue and an iconic move on the front cover it was fitting that the event had a thriller theme.

Not a whisper from the audience as the music started with the creaking door opening and as the owl awakes in Michael Jacksons Thriller the stage was set for forklift operator, Wes Shatford, dressed from the range - silver glove, red trilby, wig and sun glasses to boot - to spin and turn through the aisles in a specially choreographed sequence of moves in IDSs bulk warehouse. Led by Wayne Sleep and Anne Walker, the audience applauded when he moved from one forklift truck to another with his Moonwalker steps before bringing the House down when, from the 10 metre high top shelf, he gracefully moved a pallet of catalogues for Wayne to pull the ribbon to declare the day and the catalogue launched.

Anne Walker took to the floor saying What an amazing year for IDS from a standing start we are already selling into 32 States in the USA after only 10 months. IDS continues to have strong sales world-wide despite the current climate and that is all down to the dedication of the IDS team.

Wayne Sleep said An extraordinary achievement for IDS and it is great to see such a happy group of people pulling this all together working as one big family. Anne and her team certainly have a knack of knowing what the dance teacher thinks and needs for their next dance show great costumes at great prices.

As an extra bonus for the guests, Wayne took to the stage with his very own short story of a life in dance calling it Precious little Sleep. He had everyone in the palms of his hands with much laughter had by all. As a finale guests were invited to toast a much deserved celebration of the year and looking forward to the journey ahead.
