The launch of new organisation Advice Bureau Plus took place on 22nd February at the Park Hotel in Barnstaple. The new organisation will provide businesses across Devon with a host of services.

Businesses throughout Devon and north Cornwall are being offered a free HR health check a service that reviews existing HR policies and procedures within companies.

Run by Advice Bureau Plus, the new organisation launched last week, an HR health check comprises visiting organisations, evaluating existing HR related policies and providing professional recommendations, based on their findings.

At the same time, businesses are being urged to check their existing Business Protection cover to ensure it fits the bill.

Many businesses sign up to annual subscriptions with national HR organisations, but some are unaware that the cover provided can be insufficient for their requirements.

Steve Davis, CEO of Advice Bureau Plus said: Advice Bureau Plus understands that even the smallest of businesses need support.

We know that that finding appropriate assistance can be daunting and the costs prohibitive - signing up for business cover can be a good way of getting a basic level of cover, but it doesnt include hands on support and is usually provided from a distance.

Advice Bureau Plus offer a bespoke service, tailoring a package to meet the needs of each individual organisation.

We have a team of people with a wealth of knowledge, skills and expertise as a result we can offer a broad holistic approach to businesses.

Being locally based is a major benefit businesses can come and talk to someone face-to-face or contact us on our helpline.

Advice Bureau Plus provides businesses across the South West with a host of professional services, practical support and advice.

HR support services on offer include a paperwork and contracts updating service, employment law advice, HR Advice and emergency support, mediation services and an employee assistance programme.

Based in offices throughout Devon and north Cornwall, Advice Bureau Plus provides businesses with the chance to talk to an impartial body that can advise without judgement.

A series of business breakfasts have been planned throughout the region, so that companies can find out more and go along for an initial chat with the specialist team.

Business breakfasts are being held on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 6th March Barnstaple (at the Barnstaple Hotel)

  • Wednesday 7th March Bideford (at the Bideford Arts Centre)

  • Tuesday 13th March Bude (at the Falcon Hotel)

  • Wednesday 14th March Okehampton (at the White Hart Hotel)

  • Tuesday 20th March Tiverton (at the Best Western Hotel)

Steve continued: Wed love businesses to come along to the breakfast meetings to find out more about our free HR health check service - Advice Bureau Plus provide an impartial and informed service at highly competitive rates.

Advice Bureau Plus is a not for profit organisation - all profit generated by Advice Bureau Plus is put back into supporting the local community, ultimately helping to sustain and reinforce the local economy.

In addition Advice Bureau Plus offers social enterprise support services. This will provide charities, social housing associations and HR departments with assistance programmes and training on a number of topics including the benefits system, debt management and communication skills.

The service is available face to face at the Advice Bureau Plus offices and or through the helpline 0845 894 9847.
