The Easter weekend at The George Hotel, South Molton brought something a little different to the town when a night of live acoustic music, inclusive of a curry meal, were laid on to raise money for the Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal.

The Easter weekend at The George Hotel, South Molton brought something a little different to the town when a night of live acoustic music, inclusive of a curry meal, were laid on to raise money for the Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal. With a ticket price of just 8.50, all of which was donated by The George to the charity, the grand total of 246.18 was raised.

The evening was jointly organised by Cathy Doel, proprietor of The George Hotel and local artist and musician Ian Hudson. Ian Hudson and his many musical friends put on a fantastic show and everyone enjoyed the great atmosphere, food and music all in aid of a really great cause

Cathy says:

The idea for this concert evolved from our Acoustic Music Nights, which Ian hosts the first Saturday of each month. These events are always popular with musicians and audience alike and are a showcase for the brilliant musical talent we have right here in North Devon.

The atmosphere on the Easter Saturday was great and with the Devon Air Ambulance as our charity of the year, we were delighted to be able to raise such a substantial total as 246. Paul Beasley, a local volunteer fundraiser for the charity welcomed everyone and spoke of the need to raise funds for a second air ambulance. The function room was packed and I believe this is partly due to the very real support which folk in rural areas such as this are pleased to give the Air Ambulance.

Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director for Devon Air Ambulance Trust, said:

We are delighted that everyone had such a great time at the Easter Acoustic Evening. Particular thanks must go to Cathy Doel and Ian Hudson for their generosity and support of the event and to everyone who went along both to play and to listen.Great music, great food and great company a definite recipe for success!
