Roadford Lake which has spectacular mile long footpaths and water activities has won a gold award for their tremendous efforts to make their business environmentally friendly.
Roadford Lake situated in West Devon has yet again been awarded with the Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award.
The Green Tourism Business Scheme assesses a range of areas within the business, such as energy, water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and many more.
Roadford Lake have made many improvements since 2012, when they received their third Gold award.
They have installed Solar PV Panels, which is continuously reducing their electricity purchase. This has resulted in them being able to purchase more efficient lighting for outside.
Also, the Roadford Lake café and gift shop has been giving a helping hand by selling locally sourced food and recycled products. This means fewer products being imported from around the country and a chance for visitors to taste real Devonshire food.
Colin Vallance, the South West Lakes heritage and operation director said: “The Trust is committed to ensuring that environmental sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. This award demonstrates just how much has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of our team of employees and volunteers at Roadford Lake and we are extremely proud to have received this recognition for the fourth time.”
