Hugg frozen yoghurt celebrated their opening in Princesshay by breaking a record for the UKs biggest group hug! 138 people hugged their way into the UK records at a grand opening event on Saturday 26th June. The UK record was set in 2009 at St Pancras Station, London with 122 people taking part and now Hugg in Exeters Princesshay shopping quarter hold the record!

Hugg is a social enterprise to all intents and purposes a charity. Brett Parker, CEO of TTS said, The opening event was a real success, I am delighted with the response to Hugg Frozen Yoghurt, which was unanimously voted to be delicious, and also pleased that we were able to set a record for the UKs biggest group hug. Our staff team were amazing and very popular with the shoppers. And of course I am really pleased that the profits we make at Hugg will go back in to the important work TTS Group do with unemployed people in the region.

Hugg has recruited their whole team locally and the new Manager Laura Stuart from Exeter is delighted to be heading up the team.

Laura Stuart said, We were nervous about the record attempt but as soon as a group of young marines started hugging more and more people got involved! I am so proud that we were able to break the UK record, its a massive achievement for us and we hope people enjoy our hugs!

Frozen yoghurt - the tasty, healthy alternative to ice cream is hugely popular in the USA and Hugg is bringing the trend to the West Country. After looking hard for the perfect location for their first Hugg store, Exeter the vibrant capital of the South West region was the obvious choice.

Andy Littlejohns Princesshay Operations Manager said, The record attempt was a great way to launch the store and we are delighted they are in Princesshay.

Hugg Frozen Yoghurt is low-fat, has no added colourings or preservatives and to boost its healthy appeal and already delicious taste, Hugg add just-chopped fresh fruit. This goes towards the five-a-day count. Hugg use seasonal and where possible, local fruit, to ensure you get a tasty Hugg! But not all of the toppings are so healthy, some are quite naughty and irresistible, and Hugg also offer delicious Origin fair-trade coffee and tea, herbal tea and smoothies. They are also offering a breakfast Hugg for office workers and students complete with granola topping.

The new Hugg store is located opposite Carluccios on Bedford Street in Princesshay.
