On Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August, Princesshay will transform its main square into a foodie heaven, installing a professional cookery theatre and inspiring shoppers with mouth watering demonstrations from celebrity chefs from the region and Princesshays own restaurants.

The free Taste Princesshay event will take place from 12pm 7pm on Friday 12th & Saturday 13th August with demonstrations on the hour at 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6pm. Popular restaurant brands from Princesshay including Wagamama, Coal and Strada will all be taking part as well as the acclaimed two star Michelin chef Michael Caines MBE, who will be joined by students from the new Michael Caines Academy at Exeter College. Special appearances will also includeNeil Haydock Executive Chef at Watergate Bay and Exeter duo James Knight Pacheco and Alastair Hooper who featured on the BBC 2 series The Restaurant alongside Raymond Blanc, all of whom will be wowing the crowds with their culinary skills.

Wayne Pearce, Princesshay Centre Manager said, This summer Princesshay wants to celebrate the selection of quality food and talent in Exeter and the region. Were really excited to announce appearances from top celebrity chefs and encourage visitors and shoppers to put this date in their diaries. The event is completely free and we plan to create a chill out area for visitors to relax in while watching two days of culinary delights!

Jane Baxter, Head Chef for Riverford Organics, Chris Archambault, Head Chef of Southernhay House and Darrin Hosegrove, Chef Director at Ashburton Cookery School will all be cooking up a storm over the two days inspiring foodies and shoppers alike to use the abundance of fantastic local produce available throughout the South West.

To celebrate the event and long summer evenings, the majority of Princesshay retailers will be extending their opening hours until 7pm on both event days.

Dedicated foodies and shoppers will be able to grab a seat in the cookery theatre, provided by Exeter based In-toto Kitchens, but should arrive early to get the best seats and to rub shoulders with the professionals! Plasma screens within the marquee will allow crowds to watch the cooking action up close.

The event is free to attend but the Princesshay team will be fundraising for Hospiscare, their official charity of the year. Live local musical entertainment in between cookery demonstrations will play out sounds of the summer for shoppers and diners to enjoy.

For a full flavour of the event visit the Princesshay website www.princesshay.com or like the Facebook page for more details and updates.
