Personal Best, a boutique salon in South Molton, hosted a Personal Consultation Evening, where proprietors Victoria and Katharine Stewart, plus colour experts from LOreal, resident skin therapist Zoe Williams and style consultant Penny Blower offered individual, no obligation image consultations to 20 fortunate women.

Personal Best, which is tucked away at 55 Cooks Cross, is the brainchild of Victoria Stewart, an inspirational hair designer with more than 30 years of experience and her daughter Katharine.

Victoria said:

We had a very enjoyable night and introduced new clients to the wide range of health and beauty services based here at Personal Best. We demonstrated that we can help women with every aspect of their appearance, in a stylish and relaxing setting. While they are with us they can forget the outside world and simply focus on feeling good. This is often very relevant when women are either preparing for a big day, such as a wedding or important party, or during times of life transition, when they feel a need for updating their style to gain a confidence boost.

We were also very fortunate to have our colleagues from LOreal come and join us at the Consultation Evening, as we know they seldom come to individual salons on this type of basis, to meet the public.

Becky Smalt, LOreals colourist for the South West gave advice and answer questions on both colouring and conditioning hair. At the same time, colleague Stephanie Blewitt gave information on a range of brand new LOreal natural products, which had only been launched internationally less than a week before. These are the only organic professional products to bear the stringent Eco Certificate. With Renaitre for damaged hair, Cacoa for fine, lifeless hair and Puirete and Tendresse for children, the products will continue to be on offer at special introductory prices at Personal Best until the end of September.

All guests were met with a glass of wine and a selection of hor doeuvres, before having the opportunity to browse the selection of good on sales, such as exclusive, one off jewellery, tiaras and bridal hair bands from Magpie Vintage Jewellery. Guests then went to the specialist of their choice for personal consultations. Before leaving, everyone was given a bespoke goodie bag with samples of both Dermalogica - as recommended by Zoe during her Face Mapping consultations- and LOreal products , a copy of Skin Care reporter.

Zoe said:

The first and most important step in any skin care treatment is the analysis of the skin, which helps me to design a treatment plan that is completely personalised to a clients unique needs. This is what I have been able to do tonight, based on 14 zones of the face. By using a magnifying lamp to scrutinise the skin, I have been able to undertake an analysis and then recommend products to use on each zone, which makes the subsequent regime more results orientated and cost-efficient.

Jo Brown was one of the guests on the night. Jo said:

Its been a really good and very interesting evening. I havent been here before, so was quite surprised to find there were so many services based here. Both the colour and skin analysis were very enjoyable.

Carol Foster agreed, saying:

I came along with my daughter and it has been very nice to have a pampering. The colourist from LOreal has recommended a new shade for me, so I will now change to this product. Vikki already gives me a great hair cut and it looks good now even with little or no styling. My daughter and I have tried various salons around the area before we found Personal Best and now the whole family comes here!

Personal Best are planning another Personal Consultation Evening for 11 November, where Christmas Glamour will be the central theme of the night. There will be master classes on how to style your hair for a party twist, advice on glamorous looks to suit all ages and body types, and expert tips on how to add some glitz to your make up. Gift Vouchers will also be on offer, as Christmas gifts for the discerning women, partner or friend who already seems to have everything! Ticket numbers will be limited. To book, please contact Personal Best on 01769 579156.
