Get set for Buckham Fair - 19 August 2012!

Alongside the fervour encompassing the Olympic preparations, we, on the Buckham Fair Committee are in sight of our own finishing line. We are sprinting towards what promises to be our finest event to date.

Alongside the fervour encompassing the Olympic preparations, we, on the Buckham Fair Committee are in sight of our own finishing line. We are sprinting towards what promises to be our finest event to date. For months now we have been organising stall holders, purveyors of fine foods and beverages. We have secured seating, a PA system and luxury toilets. We have located hay bales, fence posts and arena tape. We have procured the services of the very best judges in their field for both the pony and dog show.

Visitors from last year will notice the difference - a greater variety but the same quality of delectable food, and a new Artisans' Village with gorgeous Moroccan tents with an array of crafts from designer bee hives to cooking pots!

We have cranked up the funfair which along with all favourites such as a big wheel and the dodgems, we have added a carousel to ourstable of attractions.

Something that must not be missed is our latest "spectacle": our heavy horses dancing to music, along with old favourites such as Richard Curtis' dancing canines and the tv and film stunt dogs.

We have very diverse components that make our event work so well and we would like to tell you about the invaluable support we are given by our volunteers, the local residents and businessesand Beaminster Comprehensive School and its team of young sixth formers who assist us as part of their community support leaders course.

We would also like to thank our many sponsors and in particular our main sponsor, Pardoes Solicitors who are the largest full service firm of solicitors in Somerset and whose local ethos mirrors our own. In particular, Pardoes prides itself in listening to you and understanding your personal/business needs. Furthermore, Pardoes not only recognises the need for change from the traditional law firm but is actively instigating this in how it charges, understands and appreciates its clients. Please refer to for more information, in particular its total legal and HR protection package for businesses: Plan.

Although we continue to evolve, we are keen to continue to tantalise and excite, with new experiences and more entertainment.

The spirit of Buckham Fair Pony and Dog Show is to keep it local and for every penny raised to go to a local charity.

Last year we raised over 34,000 for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and this year's chosen charity is Julia's House Childrens Hospice.

And so, as with many other people this summer, we have upped our game, paced ourselves and our now under starters orders!

Please come and support us as we go for our personal best in aid of Julia's House!

Buckham Fair - Sunday 19 August 2012 - 9.30am - 9pm. Please see for more information."
