Come to a unique workshop drawing birds in Haldon Forest on the May 7th Bank holiday.
Take a walk with bird illustrator Mike Langham and Gemma Dunn, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) focusing on the symbiotic relationship between bird species and their habitats.
Mike worked for the RSPB for many years and his bird illustrations can be seen on nearly every RSPB reserve, in addition to several large murals in information centres and hides and the paintings on the RSPB website. A full time bird illustrator since 1992, Mike has been published in over 32 books and is a voluntary Art Editor for the Devon Bird Watching and Preservation Society.
During the walk, I will be encouraging people to sketch from life quickly and effectively and will show the group how to capture the character and shape of the birds with confidence. Mike explains, Ive been coming to Haldon since the first platform was raised to view the numerous birds of prey in the area. The birds are used to people and it is an excellent place to get close to them and sketch.
Gemma Dunn, visitor officer for the RSPB will be discussing the inter-relationship between birds and their habitat providing a rare opportunity to learn about wildlife in the area while developing your conservation and illustration skills.
