Charming markets and late night shopping opportunities– it must be time for choosing Christmas presents in Devon! We bring you the festive goings-on from all over the county

Live entertainment, carol singing, Christmas light switch-on, an appearance from Santa Claus and ‘Candlelit Kids’ seasonal workshops can all be expected at Dartmouth’s much-loved Candlelit Dartmouth.

The festive weekend will take place on Friday 24th November and Saturday 25th November. See the full list of timings here.

With the backdrop of the city’s stunning cathedral, there aren’t many places prettier places to hold a Christmas market than the Exeter Cathedral Green. From Thursday 16th November – Sunday 17th December, stalls will showcase the best of local and continental Christmas crafts, gifts and tasty foodie treats. This year local bands, carol singers and choirs will also be entertaining the crowds while they shop.

The Westpoint Centre, just outside the city centre, will once again be transformed into a magical winter wonderland from Friday 24th November – Sunday 26th November. The Christmas Shopping Fayre is the perfect place to pick up decorations, something special or perhaps even a gift for yourself!

Peruse a variety of stalls lining Fore Street, and a Farmers Market in the Town Square, in Kingsbridge on Saturday December 2. They’ll be plenty of unique, local gifts to pick up as well as plenty of delicious fare to tuck into. Father Christmas will even be making an appearance!

Nestled in the charming village of Lifton, the Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre will be home to a Christmas market selling products from glassware, aromatic candles, home furniture and much more.

For a festive day out in truly unique surroundings, head to the centre on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th December with the fun beginning at 10am!

Christmas is a truly magical time to be in Devon...

Newton Abbot

Twinkling Christmas lights will fill the streets of Newton Abbot when they’re switched on at St Leonards Clock Tower on Saturday 25th November, alongside entertainment and live music.

Christmas market stalls will also fill Queen Street and Courtenay Street on Wednesday 13th and 20th December.

Powderham Castle

On Thursday 2nd November from 10am to 3pm, Powderham Castle, sitting perfectly alongside the Exe estuary, will be full of festive spirit this Christmas. Michaelmas Fair is the perfect place to discover alternative gifts you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. All donations made on the day will be given to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

This year, Plymouth’s Christmas Market will leave you spoilt for choice with over 50 stalls all housed in pretty log cabins. After an afternoon of shopping, unwind with a glass of mulled wine and a festive foodie treat in the heated seating area of the Bavarian style bar.
