From enjoying succulent beef in a historic pub in Meavy to tucking into a mouth-watering Yorkshire pudding in a luxury hotel in Exeter, we have chosen 10 of the best places to eat a Sunday roast in Devon...

We have covered just some of the best places to eat Sunday lunches in Devon, however it seems that we had forgotten some of your local favourites. Here we have the tastiest Sunday lunches in Devon as suggested by our readers...

The Tom Cobley Tavern, Crediton

Situated in Crediton is The Tom Cobley Tavern, an award-winning family run pub. In the colder weather, pull up a seat next to the open log fire with a plate of mouth-watering roast beef and fresh vegetables. This pub is the perfect pit-stop after a walk around the picturesque market town with your pooch with its olde worlde décor and range of flavoursome local ciders.

River Cottage Canteen & Deli, Plymouth

Plymouth is home to the coastline eatery, River Cottage Canteen & Deli where you can experience breathtaking views out to sea away from the hustle and bustle of Plymouth’s city centre. Dive into the delicious roast Devon topside of beef with horseradish and celeriac remoulade along with a fruity glass of rosé before embarking on an evening coastal stroll.

Woodbury Park, Exeter

Surrounded by beautiful woodland and blooming flora is Exeter’s luxurious four-star hotel, Woodbury Park. Gather the family together and enjoy a tasty traditional carvery at lunchtime; the carvery is brimming with mouth-watering meats, from roast lamb shoulder to honey glazed gammon to roast silverside of beef. Maybe finish off with a sweet blueberry crumble accompanied by clotted cream - yum!

Two Bridges Hotel, Dartmoor

After taking a stroll across Dartmoor’s beautiful countryside with your favourite four-legged friend, pop into the Two Bridges Hotel for a delicious Sunday roast. With a restaurant that caters for all, from a cosy meal for two to a lively family gathering and better still has picturesque views over the River Dart. Dive into the roast leg of pork with a sweet apple sauce and if you still have room for pudding why not try the baked vanilla cheesecake?

The Cottage Inn, Lynton

Located in the north of Devon is the Cottage Inn, a 17th century inn with flavoursome meats and local vegetables to make for the perfect Sunday roast to be enjoyed with breathtaking views. From 12:30 till 3:30 you can enjoy a great meal in a charming pub with a fruity glass of wine and a cheeky homemade dessert.

The Royal Oak, Meavy

Situated within the Dartmoor National Park is the traditional, historical pub, The Royal Oak serving a heavenly roast from 12 till 3pm. Escape the cold by the beautiful fireplace at this former 15th century church house inn while tucking into a succulent beef joint with tasty gravy and Yorkshire puddings that just melt in your mouth! Their crispy roast potatoes are raved about by customers. Why not try some for yourself?

Berry Head Hotel, Brixham

Situated on the south Devon coast is the Berry Head Hotel, with stunning views overlooking the “English Riviera”. Does honey and mustard glazed gammon ham with Madeira sauce sound tempting to you? If so, join the hotel between 12 and 2:30pm on Sunday for an amazing roast! As we approach summer there will be live jazz on the terrace and in the winter they have mesmerising piano music playing in the background while you enjoy your mouth-watering roast.

Double Locks, Exeter

Enjoy a cold glass of Chardonnay before digging into the roast sirloin of beef with vegetable and a delicious Yorkshire pudding by the cosy log fire. In the warmer months we recommend that you venture out onto the beer garden with your four-legged friend for a delightful view over the historic Exeter Canal while savouring a warm chocolate fudge cake.
