Prestigious eating out guidebook Alastair Sawdays have named The Lamb Inn at Sandford (nr Crediton) the runner-up at it’s 20th anniversary awards for Best Pub in Britain; this is quite an accolade as there were over 5,000 entrants...
Mark and his wife, local artist Katharine Lightfoot, were particularly pleased because the award was for Best Pub in Britain and because it coincides with Mark’s 10th anniversary of running the pub.
The Lamb Inn is a 16th century former coaching house with open fires to enjoy in the colder months, low ceilings, comfy sofas, stunning bedrooms and a conference room. There’s also a lovely sheltered garden on three levels; perfect for summer’s evenings. It’s a genuine community pub that also offers excellent food and sumptuous rooms.
Based in the heart of Devon, close to Exeter, two minutes from Crediton and half an hour from Dartmoor the Lamb’s award-winning chefs cook to order, seven days a week, lunchtime and dinner. Booking essential though as they have a very small kitchen and limited tables.
The contemporary bedrooms are spacious and luxurious with solar powered underfloor heating and king size orthopaedic beds. All have modern power showers, flat screen TV’s, quality hair-dryers, tea and fresh coffee. Newspapers and free Wi-fi are also available and rooms have the latest fire alarms and smoke detectors for your peace of mind.
Conferences, meetings and parties for up to 100 can be arranged in the function room. From 9am till midnight they have got everything from the best espresso coffee, real ales and quality wine to luxurious accommodation and superb food. Whether you want a meeting, a hotel room, a cinema, a garden or a pub with real atmosphere the Lamb is the place to be.
