North Devons Saunton Sands Hotel is offering a touch of indulgent winter time nostalgia for pudding fans thanks to a menu inspired by some of Britains greatest desserts.

The 4-star Hotel have launched their Great British Dessert menu to celebrate the high quality produce available in the region and to honor the traditions and heritage of British baking. Already proving the most popular are the Spotted Dick, Blackberry Arctic Roll and bread and butter pudding.

Featuring a different classic each day of the week, all the desserts including the treacle tart, apple crumble, rice pudding and the Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream with meringue, brioche and raspberry jam have been given a modern twist.

Development Chef Dez Turland is the man behind the new Great British Desserts menu at the hotel, which was awarded an AA Rosette for dining last month. According to Dez, The menu is designed to give guests a taste of old-fashioned desserts at their best. Weve seen a real growth in demand for nostalgic British food that brings back great memories. As a nation of pudding fans, we have moved on, perhaps reluctantly, to modern alternatives with a lot of our staple puds replaced in favour of dishes like pannacotta. Coming into the festive period, we thought it only right to showcase our pride for traditional British cuisine and give our guests the chance to reminisce about good times while enjoying some childhood favorites.

More than twenty chefs were involved in creating the desserts before being narrowed down to seven of the best, ensuring those that made the menu were of the highest quality according to Dez, adding where better to enjoy a nostalgic taste of the past, surrounded by elegant art deco interiors and overlooking one of the finest beaches in Devon and Cornwall.

If the thought of these Desserts is too much, the hotel is running a special Winter Weekend package staying Friday and Saturday nights where youll enjoy an authentic Devonshire afternoon tea on arrival and an AA Rosette Sunday lunch. If leaving is too much, you can also book Sunday for half price if staying Friday and Saturday nights. All this costs just 150pp. To book, visit www.sauntonsands.com or call 01271 890212
