Six creative cooks will battle it out at Bradburys Kitchens for the title of Devon Home Cook 2016. The official countdown has begun. In a few months’ time, these six people will be competing for the title of Devon Home Cook of the Year.
Their menus won them a place in the finals which will take place at Bradburys Kitchens showroom in Exeter over the weekend of 8 & 9 October. They will each demonstrate their cooking skills by cooking their menu in front of a panel of judges. The winner will then be announced at the Devon Life Food and Drink awards gala evening in November.
For the first time this year, the person who walks away with the Devon title will also be automatically guaranteed a place in the final of the South West Chef of the Year 2017.

Breaded Sharpham Brie with candied bacon, beetroot micro greens and blackberry and balsamic sauce.
Chargrilled chicken breast with wild mushroom Marsala cream sauce, roasted garlic fondant potato and cavolo nero.
Pink elderflower crème brulee with elderflower sugar, honeycomb shards and pistachio.

Pan-fried Brixham scallops with crab claws and crab meat sauce.
Clannaborough Barton pan-fried and roasted Red Ruby beef with tarragon jus, tender stem broccoli, roasted cauliflower, steamed peas and potatoes.
Whortleberry soufflé with whortleberry jus and clotted cream.

Hot smoked Devon sea trout, beetroot salad, pickled shallots and horseradish creme fraiche.
Sirloin of Devon Dexter beef, roasted radicchio, butternut squash fondant, blackberry and balsamic sauce.
Vanilla panna cotta, caramelised roasted cox apple and shortbread crumb.

Rolled Brixham sole with Brixham crab, lemon drizzle and cockles.
Creedy Carver duck breast, spiced ginger jus, potato rosti, stuffed courgette.
Devon apple mini trio of shortcake, crème brulee and fudge.

Goat’s cheese and dill soufflé.
Grilled cod in mussels with garlic butter, asparagus, red pepper and sugar snap peas.
