The second Budleigh Salterton Food Fest is cooking up a culinary treat for visitors with a fantastic weekend of food and drink themed events and promotions across the town from 13-15 March.

The weekend will kick off on the Friday evening with The Exmouth Shanty Men followed by cookery demonstrations, showcasing the excellent food and drink offering in Budleigh.

Local chefs and well known East Devon food writers/chefs will take to the stage including Steven Lamb from River Cottage and Mark Diacono from Otter Farm. Rounding off the opening night’s entertainment will be our ever popular Budleigh Ukulele Rat Pack.

The festival weekend will feature cooking demonstrations in the Public Hall, lots more stalls outside selling delicious local produce and food, even more live music in the new entertainment marquee along with lots of children’s craft and family fun.

There’s a hotly anticipated omelette competition’ for the chefs, a Budleigh-style Ready Steady Cook challenge, a Great Budleigh Bake Off and a Tray Bake Trail around the town.

Budleigh Food Fest will centre on the Public Hall area, the festival’s central hub for activities, but many events will be also taking place in town and in the surrounding area with special festival offers and menus, food tastings, live music and even a Food Festival speciality bread being made by Otterton Mill: Otter Beer Bread.

The weekend of celebrations will feature a food trail around Budleigh, a mouth-watering line up of over 20 food demonstrations and events across the weekend. Highlights will include food demonstrations and wine matching from Budleigh Wines, cocktail making by Mark Diacono and food by Steve Lamb, and wild food foraging expertise and recipes by Robin Harford.

The celebrity chefs are joined on the Saturday by Devon Life food ambassador Glen Cosby, the last man standing in the Great British Bake Off.

Willi Rehbock from Rosehill Rooms and Cookery, head chef for the event, said: “Budleigh Food Festival is rapidly establishing itself as one of the leading food festivals in East Devon reflecting the amazing produce, producers and foodies we have in our area. Hopefully this festival will continue to attract more and more visitors who want to sample a flavour of the town.
