Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish

Archant

Take a much-deserved holiday to Devon this year, and relax as you wander up the golden sands and explore the county’s stunning scenery. We choose 10 of the best places to stay...

Pebbles, Budleigh Salterton

Wake up and start your day with a cup of tea as you gaze out to sea at Budleigh Salterton’s B&B, Pebbles. After a hearty breakfast head to the beautiful shingle beach, perfectly situated right on your door-step. Following a day of exploring the picturesque coast, you’ll have a well-earned Devonshire cream tea awaiting you, complete with lashings of cream and jam. You can then snuggle up in the Egyptian cotton bed sheets as you enjoy your own slice of tranquillity, all the while surrounded by some of Devon’s most beautiful scenery.

Hotel Riviera, Sidmouth

The Hotel Riviera is situated on the seafront, just footsteps from the town centre of Sidmouth. Kick back and relax in beautiful en-suite rooms complete with sea views, and you can even bring your four-legged friend along too for a mini break! Wake up and tuck in to a continental breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice before planning your day ahead. After exploring the local shops, treat yourself to cream teas on the terrace in the summer where you’ll be spoilt with stunning views out over the beach. Why not coincide your stay with Sidmouth Folk Week from 4th-11th August?

The Beulah, Torquay

Torquay is home to The Beulah, self-catering holiday apartments only a short walk from the harbourside and town centre. The accommodation is bright, airy and spacious, perfect for families and couples alike. Catch the bus for a day out at the popular tourist attraction of Babbacombe Model Village, or spend the day at Paignton Zoo, the perfect activity for budding zoo-keepers. When the sun comes out take the opportunity to visit either Torquay beach or Meadfoot Beach before heading back to the apartment for an evening of relaxation.

The Manor Hotel, Exmouth

Located in East Devon is the 18th century, family-run Manor Hotel. Proud to have been one of the first properties to be built on the Beacon, the Manor Hotel boasts stunning views out across Exmouth Bay and the Exe Estuary. Choose from a selection of tasty home-cooked meals in the restaurant, before heading to the bar to watch the sunset over the sea with a glass of wine in hand. The rooms also offer beautiful views, so this is the ideal spot from which to enjoy the Devonshire coastline.

Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish

The Langstone Cliff Hotel is the perfect holiday destination for families with it’s large garden, swimming pool and sandy beaches nearby. Come and stay at this gem situated in the heart of Dawlish Warren and treat yourself to a room with a balcony, the perfect spot for evening relaxation. Head to the Lincoln Restaurant for a hearty meal before heading out into the garden to admire the stunning views over the coast. Don’t leave your pooch at home either as this hotel accommodates for dogs too!

The Grosvenor, Plymouth

If you’re thinking of visiting South Devon, stay at The Grosvenor, a 19th century hotel in Plymouth, ideally located close-by to the busting city centre. Prior to being a beautiful hotel, this was a private residential property on the Plymouth Hoe, but it now offers sumptuously decorated rooms complete with four-poster beds. Start your day off right with a delicious home cooked breakfast from the restaurant, ideal for fuelling up before a day’s exploring.. Be sure to take a walk around The Barbican, home to the town’s original harbour, or spend the day wandering around the grounds of Saltram House, a National Trust property.

Combas Farm, Putsborough

Located in North Devon is the award-winning Combas Farm in Putsborough - escape to this 17th century B&B for a peaceful getaway with the family. You’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful garden in the summer, and in the colder weather you can relax in the cosy lounge next to a roaring fire. In the mornings why not treat yourself to an omelette with bacon and sausage with a cup of coffee? Pay a visit to the village of Croyde where you can explore the local shops before heading to one of the beautiful nearby beaches (Putsborough Sands Woolacombe Beach & Croyde Beach). If you fancy sleeping under the starts, this idyllic B&B also has its own campsite.

Culloden House, Westward Ho!

Before becoming this stunning, family-run B&B, this Victorian property was a Gentleman’s residence for Colonel Fredrick Hutchinson so it is steeped in history. Tuck into a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day; later on take the short walk to the beautiful seafront at Westward Ho! Beach. At the Culloden House you will be blessed with blissful views across to Baggy Point and Lundy Island, while being surrounded by peaceful Devonshire countryside. The rooms are ample in size, with a cosy, homely feel.

Quayside Hotel, Brixham

Located on the Brixham harbour is the Quayside Hotel, offering scenic coastal views and an award-winning restaurant. The 18th century family-run hotel was originally six fisherman’s cottages, but is now a luxurious place to stay with individually decorated rooms and four poster beds. You will wake up each morning with stunning views out to sea, with the idyllic fishing village of Brixham on your doorstep. Let your hair down and head to the Ernie Lister Bar next door, where you can enjoy a tipple or two with friends while tucking into a traditional pub meal.

The Royal Castle Hotel, Dartmouth

Visit The Royal Castle Hotel for award-winning accommodation in the heart of Dartmouth, the ideal destination for a much-needed week away – your four legged friend can come too, so no-one needs to miss out! Relax as you enjoy beautiful views of the River Dart, before heading down to The Grill Room for delicious food accompanied by a pint of local ale from the bar. When the weather is colder snuggle up next to the roaring log fire before settling down for the night in one of the charming rooms, featuring original historic features complemented by luxurious décor.
